Here are the ones we use frequently: The online version of the Encyclopedia of Chicago is the first stop for historic maps of Chicago. It is comprised of a sampling of maps from the collections at the Newberry Library and the Chicago History Museum. Our favorite is the 1886 Robinson map. http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/700011.html University of Chicago Library's online map collection specializes in maps relating to the social sciences. http://www.lib.uchicago.edu/e/su/maps/ Scott Newman, the creator of Jazz Age Chicago, made a number of historical maps of bright-light districts such as Uptown and Woodlawn. These are a must-see. For maps of Chicago's rapid transit system, Chicago-L.org has it covered. |
